Symphony User Personas
Symphony user personas are designed to allow you to give your users the flexibility they need to perform the day to day and occasional tasks needed to manage your data and environment. The primary user personas are users who perform frequent tasks in Symphony. Other user personas provide more back end support for your environment, such as installation, upgrades, and security tasks.
Data Author
As a Data Author, you create the environment your users access and interact with. Using the content user interface, you can create and update connections, create sources, data cubes, and data connectors, define groups, set data level security and object level permissions. You'll also create dashboards, reports and visuals for other users.
Content Author
As a Content Author, you can manage the information your users access and interact with. Using the content user interface, you'll create dashboards, reports, and visuals for other users. As needed, you'll also define object level permissions for users in your environment and self service users in embedded environments.
In embedded Symphony environments, you'll have access to Symphony content you embed in your app and the Symphony self service user interface. Here you'll create sources, data cubes, data connectors, and perform data transformation (ETL) to enable other self service users. As needed, you can schedule and share content you have created or can access to users at your level or to Consumer users, including visuals, dashboards, and dashboard reports.
Self Service User
In embedded Symphony environments, you'll have access to Symphony content you embed in your app and the Symphony self service user interface. Here you'll create visuals, dashboards, and reports as needed. Schedule and share content you have created to users at your level or to Consumer users.
Consumer
As a consumer, you can view all dashboards shared with you. Schedule dashboards, visuals, and reports for other consumers. Other users may send you email notifications, reports for review, and share dashboards and visuals.
Administrator
As an Administrator user, you install and upgrade Symphony, configure the environment, and manage apps and access to your instances and embedded resources.
Environment: Install, Configure, Deploy, and Upgrade Symphony, and monitor system health
Users: Enable system users, user access, and their connection through identity providers
Manage Applications: Configure security access, identity provider access, database access, object migration, application health
Note: Some specialized tasks, such as connector management and multi-tenancy management, are performed by system administrators. See Supplied Users and User Groups.
Additionally, you'll customize and define the environments available to your users.
