Symphony Administration
Configure Symphony Data Discovery
Symphony makes visual analytics easy for end users. Symphony administrators are a big part of that. This docs portal will help you install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Symphony.
How Do I Administer Symphony?
Symphony is much like any installed software in that the administrator manages the software's life-cycle. Some tasks need to be done only when you start out or want to upgrade Symphony.
- Read the Symphony overview.
- Install Symphony.
- Configure Symphony.
- Manage Symphony microservices.
You do other tasks only as needed.
- Manage connectors and data source configurations.
- Create custom metrics and derived fields.
- Manage accounts, groups, and users.
- Manage activity logging.
- Start and stop the Symphony microservices.
- Uninstall Symphony.
You'll need to do some maintenance tasks at regular intervals.
Configure Symphony Managed Dashboards and Managed Reports
Administration tasks are performed right from Symphony's Managed main interface, including licensing, application configuration, as well as user accounts and their privileges.
Access Administrator Functions
To access the administration functionality in Symphony, first log on as an administrator user. After initial installation or sign-up, the built-in administrator user's logon name is admin, and the password is the one specified during the installation procedure or provided to you. Users who are part of the System Administrators group in Symphony also have access to the administrative functions.
Next, go to the main menu, select your profile button, then select Administration from the pop-up menu.
Alternatively, if you are at the home screen, expand the quick actions if necessary, then select Administration.
You are now presented with the administration homepage, and a list of administrative functions you can navigate between are shown in the sidebar menu.
As an administrator, you can navigate the administration homepage to complete many of the administrative tasks you can perform. For more information, see Use the Administration Homepage.
